Quiz stolen from Impudent Twilek (Kathy!)
FACT: About the person you fell hardest for?
Her favorite hobby seems to be sleeping. I have to admit, she's really good it it.

WHAT: Happened at 9:00 am today?
The sunlight coming through my blinds caused me to pull a sheet and 2 quilts over my head.

ARE YOU: Wearing something you borrowed from someone?
I don't think I possess anybody else's clothing. If it's not mine, it probably wouldn't fit me, anyway.

WHAT: Is the last thing someone bought you?
Dana helped buy me some sweet headphones, but I paid her back. Oh! My buddy Mark (musician and winemaker) bought me dinner and a pint. Very sweet of him.

    WHAT'S: Your current problem?
My current problem is going to be that I can't sleep tonight because I slept half the day away.

LAST: Person to lay in your bed?
Dana. She's cocooned there right now. But last night my niece and nephew were bouncing around on it in unbridled joy. Reminded me of how much fun it is to be a child.

SOMETHING: You say when you are mad?
Frak! I say this at work all the time, yet nobody has called me a cylon.

DO YOU: Delete people off of myspace?
    Not really, unless they're spammers.

    FAVORITE: Drink?
    Spearmint tea.

    Dana.

I'm very social, although I really need my alone time.

DO YOU: swallow gum when your done with it?
No, but I did a number of times when I was a kid.

    Thomas James Levesque

Are you afraid of falling in love?
No, I love people with wild abandon. I'm just not very loud about it.

Blue Jeans and a red/green plaid shirt that makes me look like a lumberjack.

Where is the person you want the most?
    Sleeping.

    4.

    What can't you wait for?
    A newer car.

What are you doing after this?
Probably playing a game. Something to amuse myself.

Where was your default picture taken?
In the hallway at work. My coworker was messing with his new camera lens.

Where did you get the shirt you are wearing?
Most likely a gift from my mother. She's great at finding me shirts.

When was the last time you were disappointed?
Last weekend when I was trying on jackets. Nothing fits me right and it's frustrating.

What is your favorite color shirt to wear?
    Blue or green.

Live for them! I'll hug anybody.

I get pretty loud, but try to tone it down when someone points it out.

Who was the last person to make you laugh?
Scott while we were playing cards last night. He said something in jest and I think I'm the only one who got it.

Did you tell the person you have a thing for your feelings for them?
I mostly keep that bottled inside.

What time will you be getting up tomorrow morning?
    Probably by 10am.

How are you feeling at this exact moment in time?
    Bored.

What is on your agenda for today?
Grocery shop for a charity. Pick up Bill's armor. Go look at camera equipment.

    Dana.

Has anyone ever given you roses?
Yes, but I'm not really into it. It's emberassing and expensive. I'd rather have something I can eat if someone wants to shower me with love.

Have you ever had a pet fish?
    No pet fish.

What's on your wish list for your birthday?

I lived in New Jersey until I was 14. The rest of my life has been here in the east of the San Francisco Bay Area.

    Where were you Friday night?
A dinner/game party. We ate random mexican food and played cards.

    Probably still on the computer.

Name something you CANNOT wait for?
I can't wait for gays to have the right to marry.

    St. Helenas
Had a blast at faire this weekend, and last. I've joined St. Helenas (peasants), and I feel like I'm doing what I've wanted to be doing for years.

Mad props to all my friends at Casa de Fruita who have made my weekends such a joy. I really love seeing all the familiar faces, and meeting new people. Extra big yahoo's to the whole "family" at Friends of Faire who are so encouraging and nourishing. My camping neighbors John, John, Kristen, Chris, Abbey, and Dean have been great company and helpful in a pinch.

Can't wait to get back out there and do it some more!

Oh, and to the gentleman who gave me absinthe (who shall remain unnamed), I only had a drop, but it was yummy. I didn't have as much as you were thinking.

Extra points to everyone who gave me yummy food, especially the pumpkin stuff. For some random reason I was ravenous all day on Saturday.

    One year later
Still alive. Still kicking. Mostly messing around on Facebook, Tribe, and MySpace these day

Must watch out for the noodle!

Attempting to dig my way out of mountains of accrued junk mail. Bills are being sorted so they can serve time in my little detention facility. Yes, by thinking of my bills as something I can torture and hold prisoner, I get small thrills out of dealing with them.

Still doing faire, but not looking forward to the season kicking off again. As much as I enjoy faire, I need more down time.

I'm living in Dublin, so if you don't have my Dublin contact info, please send me a message for the updated info.

I miss everyone and hope all is well. Cheers!

Sometimes they just come to me at work
    Cause she's a Camp...Frau...
    She's mighty mighty
Don't get her in a row

    With a wooden spoon
    She'll clear the room
Look out, she's got a broom

    She's a camp...Frau
    Hell bent for leather
    Everybody knows
And this is how the battle goes

    She knows she's got everything
That a german needs to beat a man
How can she loose with a man she choose
    36-24-36
    Owww her bodice is crammed

    She's a camp...fraaau!
    7:46 pm
    Boo!
Happy Halloween everybody. This is just a note that I'm still alive and kicking. I'm mostly on Tribe and MySpace these days.

    Homeowner
Well, as of Friday I'm officially a homeowner. I bought a Condo in Dublin. A lot of work lies ahead in terms of moving in, and acquiring the usual array of household goods one needs to survive. But I'll get it together.

I'm grateful to all of the people who have encouraged me, and the many different people involved in the process of buying a home. It's a really crazy process, a rollercoaster, but it was all worth it.

Haven't said much in a while, so I just thought I'd check in. Work's been full of ups and downs this year. One of the 3 in my department left, we just got a replacement in, and now it's looking like the other might leave. She may have a golden opportunity to do what she loves full time. I hope for her sake that this comes true, she's worked hard and really deserves the chance. Of course, for me it will be a major loss. I enjoy working with both ladies, and not seeing them every day really takes away from the charm of working my job. They're both people I really gell with. I know I can completely count on them, and they're so full of sharing and love... and sick/twisted senses of humor. Just got back from a day with my girlfriend. I've been run down with a cold all week, so we played it quiet. For the first time in probably 8 or 9 years I'm missing Pittsburg Ren Faire. It's really really strange to not be there. I don't know how to explain it other than it's like an old habit now. A routine. I was originally thinking I would take Friday off and go help with load-in and setup. But missing 3 days of work due to my cough changed all that. I'm still at a point where any physical activity (just walking fast even) sets me off. I'd really like to go help with unload, but that just would kill me. I'll just have to see if I can make a bigger effort for Folsom. Found a couple house-trailers that I might be able to afford. That's starting to look like my best option. I've made it through a local program for first-time homebuyers. It's taught me a lot, so now it's time to get together with loan offers and get pre-approved. I get to find out what banks will loan me. It was really pretty out today. Driving across the bay at dusk, everything had an orange glow. I do love living in the Bay Area. I keep thinking about my buddy Joe Smith who is overseas in Iraq. I hope he's doing well. I sent him a surprise package a few weeks back, so now I'm wondering if he got it. I got to thinking about all of this while I was driving and wondered "What would you give up to keep what you have? What would you give so that others could have what you have?"

    Cocksuckers
I just updated my Mac to OS X Tiger. Things went good until I went to my email. Damn thing just ate a couple thousand messages, claiming that they're still on my mail server.
Uhhh.. NOOO. Stupid p.o.s. Fortunately, I made a backup just before I installed all of this. Unfortunately for me, I haven't a clue where to look to find the files. And it's just as likely that the old files will get mangled like the current ones. So now I'm a little frustrated. Seems like all of my folders came through, it just thrashed my very bloated inbox.
    Grrrr.
    2:41 pm
Just an update, since I haven't posted in a couple months. It's the usual thing, my life goes on and my time for screwing with LiveJournal is minimal. I survived the holidays, survived our company's transition to new business software, a new location, and the busiest time of year. Now I'm just wanting a lot of Me Time. Took a couple of days off to go to MacWorld Expo. It was the smallest I've ever seen, which is sad. But still had a good time, and met yet another famous person. It seems like I always bump into famous people there. This time it was one of the guys from The Greatful Dead. I got his autograph, which I plan to give to my girlfriend's father who is a deadhead from the old days. She was too chicken to ask him for his autograph, and ran off to hide. He was really cool about it and didn't seem to mind at all. I was prepared to let him be if he objected.
Past celebs have included Douglas Adams (my favorite author!), jazz musician Herbie Hancock, the Spin Doctors, Mac book author Robin Williams (not the comedian), and an apple ][ columnist I remembered from back in the day.
On an obscure note, patchouli oil is the smell that I've always loved that madonna put on her CD. I need to remember to get some of that.

    11:28 pm
Spent most of tonight on the phone with an old friend. He called me early this morning because he's on suicide watch. Sounds like he's got a seriously broken heart. It's a long story, and very sad because he's such a loving person. But it seems that the object of his affection has gradually pulled away and cut him out of their life. It's the same old story. I think he's figuring things out though, and getting himself together. People can be really harsh sometimes. I think I was helpful, though, so that felt good. It's hard to just listen. I kept catching myself interrupting with questions or things I wanted to say.

I haven't posted in a while. I'm just too busy for the most part. Faire's been great this year, especially the run at northern. Such a blast. I loved it to death, being out there a part of the community and playing with all of the visitors. Introducing Dana to everything's been a lot of fun too. Work's been full of change, perhaps the biggest is in store for the beginning of December when we go live with new business software. I expect most of my coworkers to not adapt well. But we'll get them through it somehow.

Mom's been through another surgery on Monday, unrelated to her prior issues. But she's come through very well, and things are looking good. She's just got another long recovery ahead of her. So much is happening, but I'm doing well. All my friends and collegues, family and girlfriend see to that. Time to snooze and read more Harry Potter.

    I swear, I didn't drink much.
My apologies to anyone who happened to be at On The Border restuarant in Dublin. We got a little carried away tonight, and did things that.. well, it just wasn't family restaurant appropriate. Many thanks to server Jessica for for not minding when she walked in on our constant flow of indecent conversation, ignoring a water and ice fights, doing her best to recommend good margueritas (the gold was downright yummy) and generally not throwing us out when my coworker iced up my nipples.

OH, and many thanks to Anna, Michael, Kat, Tom, Mike and...tammy? for causing mayhem, and acts of public drunkenness. I needed to blow off some steam. I should have stayed for the second movie, I'm wired like PG&E.

    Bat Suicide
So memorial weekend, lots of funny stuff turned up and of course I feel like sharing.

    Here's installment #2

I know of fruit bats, and insect eating bats. But bats that run on 220?

I spent the weekend up at my girlfriend's family cabin near Lake Oroville. Had a great time buzzing around Lake Oroville at high speeds.
At the parents cabin, there were lots of discussions of problems with power in the bathroom. So Sunday we were rooting around under the cabin, inspecting wires and trying to figure out why the power was out.

I heard peels of laughter from Dana's father as he opened up the fuse box on the outside of the cabin. Needless to say we found the problem.

    Good times at RPFS
I made it back from Southern Faire, my 8th annual pilgrimage. Perry and I had a great time visiting with our southern cousins, and prowling about the new shire there. I have a lot of people to thank for our good times, which if time permits, I'll do. But to sum up, the new site impressed me. It's size is comperable to San Bernardino, and for the most part the facilities matched the old. There were only a few things we could find to criticize, and I consider it a wash really.
There seemed to be a lack of public running drinking water fountains. I saw only one. Perhaps there were more, the one I saw was just outside of a priv. I only used one or two priv sites, so there could easily have been more.
Traffic flow onto the faire parking lots is reportedly rather backed up. Get there early. We did, and had no real problems. There's not much that could be done about all of this.
The faire is arranged in one long serpentine. There's a short split/crossover but the majority of faire site is one long road. I've always hated this. I think an extra cut through or two, providing faster access to the far end of site, would be most welcome. There were several times when an objective was noted to be way too long of a walk to bother heading for. You really have to commit to being out there for a long walk to get to the far end, and after you're back, you don't want to bother again. There ARE actor's pass-throughs, but even these mostly dump you right out on stages in awkward ways.
There was a lack of man-made shade, however the nature of a temporary site prevents this, and the ample natural shade provided by trees also makes it tolerable. I do pity the celts, and friends of faire, both of which seemed to be in wide open spaces. This sort of thing has long been a problem at faire.
Oh, and it's even more of a "dry site" than ever before. On the bright side, a rather experimental "stay on site and have a party" thing happened on Saturday. I missed it, so I can't really report on it, other than it happened and folks got to blow off some steam. Much deservedly!

On the very positive side, we were able to secure lodgings that were 3 miles away. We could easily have taken a cab if we wanted to split up for some reason, or were inebriated. The appearance of a rather large inflated dragon at the front gates provides a new and interesting amusement for the kids. Bonus points for style go to the multiple flushies and park buildings which were encorporated into the site. Most notably, the Boars Head seems to be using a roofed building for their feasts. The look is close enough to get away with it, since it's a simple stone and wood construction. I foresee an ale-stand with attached park building and entertainment.

As for our hosts, my eternal gratitude goes out to the San Lorenzo's who rolled out the red carpet (and the scrumptious food) for Tomasso and Don Luigi.

Okay, I'm going to toss out some other quick thank you's. My apologies if I haven't mentioned your name up here, there are too many for my tired brain to keep straight.
juice_weazel & Suzanne (wicked cool looking dental work, wish I'd taken a picture)
    Victor (actually seen NOT drinking)
The Highwaymen (Fire! FIRE! Reload! thanks for playing along)...[ed. note: oops, I originally wrote The Gentleman Adventurers.]
Kevin O'Hare (Thanks for the directions, they were handy)
Hellsjester & Kristal (Thanks for the scotch, possibly the only alcohol I had all weekend)
Rhonda & her beau (Always good company, even in the heat)
Erin Rochelle McElroy (You really know how to swing)
Phil Johnson (Love your Sunday morning warmup)
Brian Howard & Troll (Sorry to interrupt your conversation)
Lee Milum & Sheri Monahan (Thanks for getting me wet, Lee)
Cristina & John (Thanks for the water)
Toadstool Art (Hey, thanks for the ice..err, now it's water)
    Security, including Ron (nice Germans!)
Heather & Scott (Come earlier next time!)
The Hill People: Fubar & Wolf (Sorry we couldn't make it to enjoy some Mike)
Diane & The Dye Spot crew (Thanks for selling me the shirt off of someone else's back)
Robert Andruzco (Appreciate you taking time out for us on a busy weekend)
Everybody at Slamander Armoury, especially Mrs. Hrisoulas.
Oh, and Papa_Raja for the big hugs!

Outback Steakhouse (Thanks you friendly server. Wish I could send you more Flair)
Adolino Italian Restaurant (Great Antipasto Salad)
Galaday Family Restaurant (Yummy Chicken Enchiladas!)

Oh and another interesting note. Faire site is located a stones throw away from a brewery. I just found that incredibly amusing. Too bad it's miller, and not REAL beer. I'm a snob.

Sorry if I've been too quiet. As usual, it's been a while since I've made an entry.

My birthday up at Calaveras was a blast. Good times. At Visalia I enjoyed the opportunity to give gun commands to the matchlock gunline. That went well, althought I'm told I wasn't loud enough. I know I'll be able to work on that when I know my lines better. I've been spending what little free time I have with Dana. It's been a lot of fun hanging out with her. On the home side, it's been quite busy. Mom had lung surgery, so Dad and I have been picking up the slack. Mom's friends have shown an amazing amount of support, which has been very touching. Work got completely insane at the end of April. If it wasn't for the hard work of my coworker Kat I don't think I would have been able to do it. But now suddenly things are quiet again and we're caught up. I've got time to do some finicky projects, and our ducks are once again in a row. It's been hard, because the other member of my unit, Anna, has been out dealing with her mother who also is going through a major surgery. Unfortunately for us, it may be a few weeks before she is back at work.
So with things being like that, I've missed out on a few social occasions like the usual Tuesday night gatherings and Thursday pint nights, and of course the Bytes reunions. I look forward to doing more of that as things get better. Perry and I have a short vacation coming up, our annual trip to Southern Faire. So that's keeping me going.
It's Mother's Day, so Happy Mothers Day to all you moms out there, and also to all of you who mother me throughout the year. I do appreciate the love. My mom's not feeling well enough to deal with relatives for a few hours, so she's cancelled our plans. Suddenly I'm wide open, so I think I'm going to take the opportunity to catch up with someone I've been neglecting.
Oh, incidentally Dana took me to a concert. We went to see the band Cake in San Jose, and it was a good time. I'm having a hard time explaining who they are to people. But they are a little left of center so it's not surprising. Last night I went to see a women's football team play, the Oakland Banshees. Kat is a volunteer Athletic Trainer for the team, so I went to show her support. Unfortunately, they got really clobbered by a team from Sacramento. It was 62 to 12. Ouch! But the ladies played it rough out there. There were more injuries than I can count, there weren't any holds barred. So the game was pretty exciting. Apparentlyl Sac's team is high up in the rankings, so the loss was to be expected. After the game I got to hang out with the team at a local restaurant. It was funny, a server came by and we asked her how late they stay open. She shyly replied that normally they close much earlier, but they keep it open for the Banshees. No wonder she looked a little tired.
Cordial fans can take note, my latest experiement finally got filtered yesterday so it's ready for the last step. Soon there will be lemony goodness to taste.

Thats enough chatter for now. *hugs* to everyone. Hope to see you soon.

I laughed so hard I cried. I noted the macintosh in the backround.
Yes, it's Bill Gates from Teen Beat magazine in 1983. Isn't he dreamy? Doesn't he look totally psychotic in the second photo?
